Dear Parents,

 Progress Reports will be coming home again today, just to keep you updated on missing assignments that need to be turned in by Wednesday, the end of the term is on Friday.

 Our walking field trip to the Heritage Center for the Water Fair was a great learning experience.

 On Friday we had a special guest read us a Dr. Suess book and all the students got a cake to celebrate Dr. Suess's birthday.
Congratulations to Jack!  He won the District Spelling Bee!

 On Friday we had our February Reading Lunch Club.
Ms. Soriana has agreed to come back to our class on April, after her student teaching in Mrs. Bali's class, to help with a Math Fact Celebration!  Students are working on passing off their math facts on Xtra Math.  Our celebration will be a HoneyNut Cereal Celebration. :)

 Curriculum News:

  • Literacy - Spelling patterns will be coming home today.  We are reading Treasure Island, CKLA, unit 8.  This is such a fun story to read aloud.  
  • Math - Monday's lesson, 9.3 equivalent fractions and decimals.  Tuesday's lesson, 9,4 relate fractions, decimals, and money.   Wednesday's lesson, 9.5 problem solving with money.  Thursday's lesson review and practice 9.1 - 9.5.  Friday's lesson, 9.6 add fractional parts of 10 and 100.  Wednesday when we return 9.7, compare decimals.  Thursday's lesson review and practice concepts from chapter 9.  Friday we will test on chapter 9.
  • Science -  Geology, layers of the earth, and plate tectonics.  We will be doing a fun investigation tomorrow about the layers of the earth.  From there we will be reading and researching about tsunamis and earthquakes.
Important Dates:
  • March 4, Water Fair at the Heritage Center, we will be walking there and will be back for lunch
