Happy Fall Break! I hope you all enjoyed the three day weekend. 😊
On November 1st we will be visiting Frontier Homestead State Park. We need 9 parent helpers for our entire grade. We have three that have already volunteered, we need 6 more that are willing to be at the State Park from 8:50 - 11:00 am. Please email me if you are interested and able.
Last Monday we had a guest speaker from the Living Planet Aquarium, scholars did an investigation, learned about more about wetlands, and got to see a salamander and gopher snake!
Curriculum News:
- Literacy - Unit 2 of CKLA, the Middle Ages of Europe. Scholars wrote a rough draft informational paragraph on the lives of Serfs in the Middle Ages. Next they will be writing an opinion paragraph. We are working on adjectives, nouns, and prefixes. Spelling patterns went home last week. I will begin working with student's and their words this week, spelling test in two weeks.
- Math - Tuesday's lesson, 4.1 estimate quotients. Wednesday's lesson, 4.2 remainders. Thursday's lesson, 4.3 remainders. Friday's lesson, 4.4 divide 10's, 100's, 1000's. Chapter 4 is on division. I've been saying since the beginning of the year, knowing times table facts is so important, even more so as we begin to divide.
- Science - Scholars are working in cooperative groups to do a report on a Utah fish, then we will move onto birds.
