October 15 - 22, 2018

Dear Parents,

The end of the term was on Friday, October 12th.  I'll send home 1st term progress reports on Wednesday, these are for you and no need to send back.

Today is the start of a new term, we got out the goals that scholars wrote with parents at SEP's and read over our goals.  This will be a great quarter!

Curriculum News:
  • Literacy - We are reading about the Middle Ages in our CKLA unit 2.  Scholars will be writing an informational paragraph about Serfs of the Middle Ages.  We are working on the prefixes; un and non.  Parts of speech; nouns and adjectives.  Spelling groups will start on Thursday, individual spelling pattern words will come home that same day.  We will have a test in about 2 weeks for the words.
  • Math - Scholars have been practicing a few different methods/strategies to multiply 2-digit by 2-digit.  Scholars have learned how to use the partial products method, area model, regrouping, and lattice.  I would encourage you to encourage your scholar to use the method that works best for them.  Monday's lesson review.  Tuesday's lesson 3.7 problem solving.  Wednesday's lesson review.  Thursday we will test on Chapter 3.  Friday we will go over the test and graph test scores.  Chapter 4 will focus on dividing by 1-digit numbers.  Please keep working on times table facts at home.
