Dear Parents,

 Happy Valentine's Week!  Thank you all so much for making the time to come in for your student's SEP last week, even during that crazy snow we had on Tuesday!

 Character book report is due this week.  I am going to go ahead and introduce the next home report.  This will be a Biography on a family member a generation back.  The Son's of Utah Pioneer do an essay contest every year.  I will be sending home the information on Wednesday.

 This Friday is Ms. Soriano's last day with us.  She has been a wonderful addition to our class and they have learned a lot while she has been teaching.  We will miss her and wish her the best of luck as she goes to complete her student teaching in Mrs. Bali's class.

 Curriculum News:
  • Literacy - Spelling test will be Friday as well the word study activity that they have had two weeks to work on.  Scholars have been reading and writing similes in poetry.  Our next poem will be Fog by Carl Sandberg, this is a metaphor poem and scholars will be writing their own metaphor poem.
  • Math - Monday's lesson 8.1, multiples of unit fractions.  Tuesday's lesson 8.2, multiples of fractions.  Wednesday we will do a mid-chapter review.  Thursday's lesson 8.3, multiply a fraction by a whole number.  Friday's lesson 8.4, multiply a fraction or mixed number by a whole number.
  • Science - Scholars finished up the weather unit with Ms. Soriano.  We are starting Standard 3, Rocks and Soils.  This unit we will also be studying Unit 6 of CKLA, Geology.  I am excited for this unit and all of the investigations and readings that go along with it.

Important Dates:
  • February 14, Valentine's Day, we will be passing out Valentines after library.

  • March 4, The Water Fair at the Heritage Center, we will be walking there and back.  More info to follow.

  • March 5, ALL LATE WORK DUE
  • March 6, Happy Birthday Holden!
  • March 7, Talent Show rehearsal
  • March 8, Talent Show!
  • March 8, End of third term
  • March 11-12, Teacher contract days, no school.
  • March 12, Happy Birthday Hayden!
