November 5 - 9, 2018

Dear Parents,

I hope you all had a good week, we did in 4th grade.  Be prepared for a picture overload from our morning at the Frontier Homestead State Park. :)

We had a guest visitor from Specialized Bikes on Friday, thank you to Mrs. Illian for bringing him to our class.

Our new book report that went home on Thursday is on a Battle of the Books book.  I sent home a list with the book report.  These may be turned in at any time and are due on November 26th.

We had Reading Lunch Club on Wednesday:

I sent home progress reports last week, please look over, sign and return.  I will be sending home a missing assignment report for those who are missing assignments.

Curriculum News:
  • Literacy - We took a break from CKLA for a couple of days last week to read and compare Halloween stories.  We worked on fluency and comprehension, which are my goals during reading time every day.  This week we will continue with reading about the Middle Ages, compare knights, craftsmen, monks, and nuns.  Scholars will decide who they want to write their opinion paper about.  New spelling words will be coming home today.  We will have a spelling test in two weeks.  When I pass out new words there is always an assignment that goes along with them.  Scholars have two weeks to finish the assignment.
  • Math - Monday's lesson 4.6, division with distributive property.  Tuesday's lesson 4.7, division using repeated subtraction.  Wednesday's lesson 4.8, division using partial quotients.  Thursday's lesson 4.9, division with regrouping.  Friday's lesson 4.10, seeing which place value to place a digit when dividing.
  • Science - We will continue to work on our bird study unit and then scholars will be doing a report on an Utah mammal.
