Dear Parents,

 So thankful the the Veteran's!  This newsletter will cover the next two weeks, since next week will be a short one due to Thanksgiving Break.

 Progress Reports will be coming home on Monday, please look over, sign and return.  I try to send these home every two weeks.

 Curriculum News:
  • Literacy - Small groups in reading and word study have started during our literacy time.  Scholars are expected and have practiced how to work independent during this time.  During small group time scholars maybe working on typing skills, word study, read to self, or writing.  In our CKLA we are reading about the Middle Ages, we are on Chapter 6 which is about the Battle that Changed History.  Scholars will also be writing an opinion piece on who they would rather be in the Middle Ages; a serf, knight, lord, craftsmen, monk, or nun.  Spelling test will be this Friday.  New words will be given on Monday the 19th.
  • Math - Monday's lesson 4.11, division practice.  Tuesday's lesson 4.12, problem solving with division.  Wednesday's lesson, review Chapter 4.  Thursday we will test on Chapter 4.  Friday, go over test, those who received less than 75-80% will be retaught and retested.  Vocabulary for Chapter 5.  Chapter 5 will focus on factors, multiples and patterns.  Monday's lesson 5.1, models of factors.  Tuesday's lesson 5.2, factors and divisibility.
  • Science - Insects and spiders will be our focus this week.  After the insects and spiders we will review and test on this unit.  Our next unit of study will be the Water Cycle.
