Mrs. Komarek's Busy Bees: November 18

Dear Parents,

Thank you for reading the newsletter! As we are approaching Thanksgiving I would just like you to know how grateful I am for your scholar and the opportunity to be their teacher.

Book Reports are due this week, they of course may always be turned in before the 21st.

Notes from Mrs. Calandrino:
I have been enjoying your children immensely and watching them learn has been so much fun! We have worked our way through learning about birds, we built birds nest and experimented with different beaks. Starting this week we will be delving into the wonderful world of insects! We have been learning so much.

Curriculum News:

Literacy - New Words Study Words will be coming home today. There will a Word Study Test on Tuesday before Thanksgiving. We will finish Unit 2 this week and start CKLA Unit 4, Middle Ages of the Middle East. During our Unit 2 the scholars have written an opinion essay on "Who They Would Rather Be in the Middle Ages".
Math - Monday (11/18) lesson 4.11, practice division. Tuesday (11/19) lesson 4.12 problem solving with division. Wednesday (11/20) review for chapter 4. Thursday (11/21) Chapter 4 test. Friday (11/22) go over chapter 4 test, graph, introduction to Chapter 5. Chapter 5 is on multiples, factors, and patterns. Monday (11/25) lesson 5.1, model factors and square numbers. Tuesday lesson 5.2, factors and divisibility. So many of our scholars still do not know their times tables well enough to be fluent in their division, PLEASE work on these basic math facts at home.
Science - Scholars are working on a Bird research paper and finishing up their booklet. Insects will be the next unit of study with Mrs. Calandrino. Pictures are doing the BEAK Investigations and making NESTS outside.
