December 3 - 9, 2018

Dear Parents,

I can't believe it's December and only 14 days of 2nd term left!  We are almost half way through the year!

Information for the poem went home last Monday and scholars also now have a book in class that we will be working with.  While working on memorizing the poem scholars may use the minutes for their reading logs this month.  

Curriculum News:
  • Literacy - Spelling test this week.  When scholars get their words they are also given an assignment to practice their spelling patterns, they have until we have a test (which is usually two weeks) to complete the assignment.  Scholars have been working on an opinion writing essay.  They will be tying them this week on a program called Utah Compose.  We are finishing up Unit 2 of CKLA and working on T'was the Night Before Christmas.
  • Math - Monday's lesson, we will finish lesson 5.6 and review Chapter 5.  Tuesday we will test on Chapter 5.  Wednesday we will go over the test and retake if needed.  Thursday we will start Chapter 6, Chapter 6 will focus on Fractions. 6.1, equivalent fractions.  Friday's lesson 6.2, equivalent fractions.
  • Science - We will do more reviewing and test on Standard 5.  Our next science unit is Standard 1, the water cycle.
